Anyone who has booked an overnight stay here, whether by bike or on foot, should definitely check for rest days. Unfortunately, we overlooked this and, after 75 km against the wind, had to get back on our bikes and cycle over 4 km to the nearest restaurant. This wasn't so great, especially given the unstable weather. Breakfast in the morning was excellent.

This was never a Heidschnucke stable. Such structures are called bee fences in the Lüneburg Heath.

The paths on the Wümmeberg are not so great, but the landscape compensates a little

Discover Wilsede, a charming tourist magnet that attracts many visitors, especially during the season. Be enchanted by the picturesque cobblestone streets that are closed to motor vehicles. The Heide Express takes you comfortably to the surrounding area, while you can also explore the region's beauty on foot, by bike, or by horse-drawn carriage. Numerous cozy restaurants and charming knick-knack shops await you in Wilsede. The old, thatched houses and sheepfolds, along with the Heath Museum "Dat ole Huus," give this historic town the flair of a lively museum village. Another highlight is Wilseder Berg, at 169.2 m, the highest elevation in the Northwest German Plain. Trekking bikes with thicker tires or mountain bikes are recommended. Lots of cobblestones and lots of loose sand

Not every cycle path 😁 is a path for cycling. This "section" here is fun to ride, though. You'll often have to push your bike in the Lüneburg Heath because of loose sand, mud, cobblestones, gravel, scree, and the like. Not every path designated by the heath region and thus "official" is suitable for cycling. Especially not for those who are less experienced cyclists. But practice makes perfect.

Especially worthwhile in the early morning hours. The boardwalk is only partially suitable for cyclists. Even if hikers don't like it, cycling isn't prohibited here 😉
