This is not a fountain. The Grupello Pyramid is a sculpture on Paradeplatz in the center of Mannheim. It was created at the beginning of the 18th century by the Flemish sculptor Gabriel Grupello. In 1716, it stood in Düsseldorf's Galerieplatz, but the fountain was not built at that time. Due to a lack of a suitable water supply, the fountain remained unfinished for 150 years. Only with the construction of the Mannheim Water Tower could a central water supply be established in the city and pipes laid to Paradeplatz. In 1888, the sculptor Johannes Hoffart was commissioned to create fountain figures that were to be "adapted to the character of the monument and blend organically into the whole." They were cast by Ferdinand von Miller. At the same time, a basin was constructed, and the pyramid's base was renovated. The redesigned installation was completed in 1893.

The Freinsheim Panoramic Cycle Path leads around the historic city walls of this picturesque wine-growing town and continues through the gently rolling vineyards of the Mittelhaardt region. It offers magnificent views of the Rhine plain, the Haardt Mountains, and, on a clear day, as far as the Donnersberg. The route is easy to navigate, family-friendly, and ideal for enjoying the Palatinate wine culture with its wine-growing villages, wineries, and wine taverns. The route is particularly charming in late summer during the grape harvest, when the vines glow golden yellow and the scent of the grapes fills the air.
