Between Machnower Straße and the Augustinum senior residence, the heavily damaged path has been completely renewed since September 2024 as part of the maintenance of the Berlin Wall Trail, commissioned by GrünBerlin GmbH. The new path made of sustainable recycled asphalt ensures that pedestrians and cyclists can once again travel safely.

The 38 km long Teltowkanalweg connects the Griebnitzsee with the Dahme in the south of Berlin. The navigable canal, which was built in just six years, was intended to shorten the waterway between the Oder and the Elbe around 1900. With the construction of the Teltowkanal, many smaller streams disappeared at the time, as their beds were used for the canal's course. The path is designed continuously for hikers and mostly also for cyclists.
