On the Trail of the Nibelungs At the foot of the Erbeskopf massif, deep in the valley of the Kleine Dhron, lies the picturesque village of Dhronecken. The predecessor of its castle ruins was once the residence of Hagen von Tronege, referred to in the Nibelungenlied as "Tronjer." Hagen's comrade-in-arms, Hunold, a cupbearer and chamberlain at the Nibelungen court in Worms, came from the nearby rocky nest of Hunolstein. Both heroes were devoted to Queen Brunhild. When she was insulted by Krimhild, Siegfried's wife, Hagen plotted to murder the hero in revenge. During a hunting trip in the Hochwald forest, as Siegfried was refreshing himself at a cool Hochwald spring, he stabbed him between the shoulders with a spear. Since then, this spring has been called the "Seiwertsbure" (Siegfried's Spring). Source: Information board near the spring

This camp, hidden in the forest, consists of two wooden platforms, each for two smaller tents or one slightly larger tent with a maximum of four people, and a separate dry toilet in a small wooden cabin. The platforms feature a number of anchor points, the spacing of which was rather unsuitable for our (not self-supporting) tents. However, with extension cords, setting up the tents worked reasonably well. A table is integrated into the platform; the planks of the platform serve as "benches," with the legs dangling down. Unfortunately, there are no poles or attachment points for hammocks, as I've seen with other platform solutions. It's also important to note that a strict fire ban is in place here, which is independent of higher forest fire warning levels and also prohibits the use of stoves.

The Church of the Assumption of Mary in the Thiergarten district of Malborn was built in 1961 as a single-aisle church with a gable roof. The bell tower above the chancel, with its adjoining sacristy, is particularly striking. A highlight is the artistically designed "porta coeli" (Gate of Heaven) window by Reinhard Heß, symbolizing Mary as Queen of Heaven. The 14 side windows are by Heidemarie Scheuer. In 1987, the church received a three-part bell ring, cast at the Mabilon bell foundry in Saarburg. Regional materials were used in its construction, including rubble from Damflos and wood from the municipal forest. The church is located on Kirchstraße between house numbers 12 and 14.
