A roughly hewn stone next to the bench forms the foundation of this small sacred monument: a cross – presumably made of cast iron – with the gilded body of the crucified Christ. The crucifix has several special features: the INRI inscription (the four letters are the Latin abbreviation for "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews"), also gleaming in gold, is round here instead of square, and not attached to the upper part of the longitudinal beam as usual, but is located exactly in the crossing of the longitudinal and transverse beams. An additional inscription can be seen beneath the feet of the crucified Christ, and another figure can be seen at the foot of the cross. Here we can recognize the Virgin Mary, Mother of God, assisting her son in his death throes.
