The expression "let yourself be sprinkled" usually has a negative connotation, unless you are actually standing under the shower. In Bargteheide you can even let yourself be directly sprinkled with art. A curved stainless steel pipe in the shape of a shower conceals loudspeakers and sound technology inside. If you press the button in the shower, you will then be sprinkled with texts and sound recordings on the topic of "water" that come from Bargteheide residents. The sequence of the contributions is controlled randomly. The dripped words seem to have collected on the floor beneath the shower. The performance artists Matthias Berthold and Andreas Schön collected the contributions in various actions and created the sound recordings from them. In this sense, the installation can even be understood as a "mouthpiece" for the residents. The work of art was created on the occasion of the transformation of the village pond in the middle of the village into a lively meeting place. Centrally located in the heart of Bargteheide, with plenty of free parking right outside the door, the traditional ice cream parlor on Bahnhofstrasse 1 invites you to linger and enjoy. With the numerous shops right next door, it is a popular meeting place for young and old. Elvis Eis offers a variety of ice cream flavors, including fruity sorbets and innovative flavor combinations. The handmade ice cream stands for the highest quality, regional ingredients and sustainable enjoyment. From a small ice cream parlor to a cult brand in a glass - for everyone who loves real ice cream. The ice cream is really delicious and is now known and sought after far beyond the borders of Bargteheide. There are other Elvis ice cream parlors in Lübeck, Neumünster and Bad Oldesloe. You can find detailed information about Elvis Eis here: https://www.elvis-eishandwerk.de/

First of all, the most important thing: The museum at Hamburger Strasse 3 is open every Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and admission is free! The museum is closed during the summer holidays. Bargteheide was granted city rights on May 15, 1970. This was to be celebrated with all residents and clubs. The beautification association put on an exhibition from the village era in the old community center - today the "Restaurant Utspann" - namely "Ut de Dörptied". This exhibition was so well received that it remained open longer than planned and further exhibits were collected. This is how the "Local and Folklore Collection of the Bargteheide Beautification Association" was created and was expanded into today's impressive museum thanks to the great commitment of the then chairman, Wilhelm Postl. The museum has found its place in the "Hamburger Strasse 3" building since 1977. On the first floor there are rooms on prehistory, the rural past, household appliances, textiles, a forge, craft tools, postal and banking services, etc. On the ground floor you can see the exhibition "From Flax to Linen" and the estate of Bargteheide craftsmen. A room is available for special exhibitions, which are set up two to three times a year. Group tours can be arranged with the museum director Klaus Griese on 0175 / 9381238 or klaus.griese@vvb-bargteheide.de. https://www.vvb-bargteheide.de/Museum.html

Films were shown in the hall of the "Gasthof unter den Linden" as early as 1927/28. The cinema was originally set up in the hall (later Lindenhof), and Cafe Hartmann was also located there in the front building. The "Unter den Linden" cinema used the hall as a cinema until 1954. Then the hall was converted and on September 1, 1954 it was inaugurated as "Linden-Lichtspiele". In 1967, the Kulturring Bargteheide e.V. was founded and used the stage mainly for touring and guest performances until mid-2017. On February 16, 1980, a "real" theater was created from a temporary structure with the addition of the stage house and was given the name "Kleines Theater" on July 3, 1980. You can currently enjoy all genres on stage: Drama, cabaret, shows, dance, music, literature and excellent cuisine in the Papillon foyer restaurant, daily from 6 p.m. to midnight. Stage, cinema and restaurant - with this triad, the Kleines Theater Bargteheide has developed into a cultural and culinary center far beyond the borders of the Stormarn district for decades. Come in and be amazed by the surprisingly large theater and cinema hall: 344 comfortable red theater seats, rising floor, acoustically optimized side walls, a high, decoratively designed ceiling, red theater curtain made of heavy velvet - the ambience is just right. https://www.bargteheide.de/Bildung-Freizeit/Kleines-Theater/ https://www.kleines-theater-bargteheide.de/ueber-uns/geschichte-des-häusern/
