The village was founded by Westphalian settlers and was first mentioned in 1208. Its direct access to the motorway brought the town a significant economic boom. Numerous companies settled here after 1990. The church was built as a fieldstone church in the second half of the 13th century. Its mighty tower is reminiscent of fortified churches. The windows in the east choir are still Romanesque. The nave and choir have domed vaults. In 1985, plaster drawings were discovered depicting the burial, resurrection, and ascension of Christ. After 1990, a support association was formed for the church—as was the case for 60 other churches in the state.

Finest gravel = lots of sand. Not so great with a gravel bike and <50mm tires. But the surrounding nature and the wonderful peace and quiet are great compensation on Hike your Bike.
