The village was first documented approximately 1,000 years ago, when it was owned by the Einödhof Castle estate. Einödhof Castle changed hands several times over the years. The castle ruins were gradually demolished over the years to prevent damage to the surrounding buildings. Today, only the castle's main tower and some dilapidated walls remain. Einödhof Castle is now privately owned. Under certain conditions, the Einödhof Castle ruins can still be visited.
