The “Kalmische Hof” (formerly “Stockheimer Hof” from 1581, built in 1599. The substructure and the stair tower are presumably from a predecessor building. The lords of Stockheim were burgraves of the Counts of Nassau since the 14th century and died out in 1702. From 1768-1776 it was owned by the family of J. H. von Calm, hence the name “Kalmenhof”).

The Hexenturm (Witches' Tower) is Idstein's oldest surviving structure and the town's landmark. It was built in several phases around 1170, 1240, and 1500. After several smaller alterations and additions in the 18th century, it received its current appearance in 1810. The popular name "Hexenturm" follows a general trend of the 19th century and has nothing to do with the witch hunts that took place in Idstein in the 17th century. Those who wish to visit the Hexenturm have the opportunity to do so during the opening hours of the Tourist Information. The key to the tower is gladly handed over in exchange for a deposit. For large groups, advance notice is requested. The key is only available when no guided tours are taking place or other restrictions apply. From March to October, the Hexenturm guards are on the tower, and you can access the Hexenturm without a key on Saturdays from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM and Sundays from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM.
