The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Andrew, a hall church named after the patron saint of miners, stands in line with the main street in the historic town center of Bad Lauterberg. The parish belongs to the Harzer Land church district of the Evangelical Lutheran State Church of Hanover. Presumably, a simple chapel was built as early as the 13th or 14th century. In 1571, a new building was erected because the first wooden church had become too small and dilapidated. This is evidenced today by a lintel with this year on an entrance on the north side, which was originally used as a window lintel on the south side and was only placed in this position at the beginning of the 20th century. The nave at that time had the same dimensions as today's. However, the interior looked different. The altar stood freely in the choir. There was also only one gallery over 2/3 of the side length on the south side. The pulpit was attached to the 1st pillar. On the rear gallery stood a small organ. Due to the wintry conditions, the trail was unfortunately inaccessible for us today... icy and slippery! The rest of the circular route was also too slippery, as the snow had thawed and refrozen ❄️

The building is neither spectacular nor particularly beautiful - rather very functional with a little bit of a spa atmosphere.
