The Gate of the Chosen, also known as „Warta”, is the oldest preserved building of the castle complex in Pszczyna in its original form. It was erected in 1687 by the builder Consilio Milius, commissioned by Baltazar Promnitz, and served as the main entrance to the castle grounds and the seat of the castle guard. The name comes from the „chosen ones” – soldiers recruited from local peasants, who guarded the castle until 1875. The characteristic elements of the gate are the decorative portal with the coats of arms of the owners of Pszczyna and a small round tower in the corner.

The Pszczyna Town Hall is one of the oldest buildings in the city – its history dates back to at least the 17th century. The current building has a Neo-Renaissance form, given during a thorough reconstruction in 1931. Previously, the building was expanded, among others, in 1861, and in 1738 it received a small clock tower. Since 1716, it has continuously served as the seat of the Pszczyna city authorities.

This open-air museum was opened in the 70s. Here, on an area of 2 hectares, there are many monuments of Pszczyna's wooden architecture. The oldest is the manor granary from Czechowice from 1784. Don't miss the octagonal barn from Kryr from the 18th century either - and many other beautiful monuments. More on the open-air museum website: http://www.skansen.pszczyna.pl/

One of my favorite towns in Silesia, an extremely picturesque palace with a park and a beautiful market square.

This small neoclassical tea pavilion is located on an island amid the Pszczynka River within the castle park in Pszczyna, built in the third quarter of the 19th century during a renewed interest in Oriental culture. A beautiful place to drink tea or eat something sweet 🍰
