The Prince Albert Monument on the market square in Coburg commemorates Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1819–1861). It was erected in 1865 on the orders of Queen Victoria of Great Britain and Ireland, based on designs by the sculptor William Theed the Younger, in the style of Classicism. The Queen, accompanied by her children, attended the solemn unveiling of the monument on August 26, 1865, during her fifth visit to Coburg.
