Highly recommended for hiking. I also rode the Ras, but it requires a fair amount of skill.

On clear days, visibility is very clear. You can see the Berlengas Islands straight ahead, Peniche on the left, and São Martinho do Porto on the right. You can stop, breathe, listen to the sounds of the surrounding flora and fauna, and walk the 800-meter wooden walkway at Foz do Arelho.

Penedo Furado dates back to the Jurassic period, when the sea bathed this inland area, close to Nadadouro. It is now a huge rock, light brown in colour and on the side facing the Óbidos Lagoon, signs of erosion are visible, with deep cavities and one of them ended up going through the rock, forming a passage.

In the last century, many of the women of Nadadouro dedicated their lives to washing the clothes of the “gentlemen” of Caldas and S. Martinho do Porto. They would even go by train to boarding houses and private homes, where they would bring back the dirty clothes, count them, and then wash them, and the following week, they would deliver them and bring back a new batch to be washed. The tribute to these hard-working women is now immortalized in a work of art installed in the new leisure park of Nadadouro, inaugurated on April 27. (Source: www.gazetadascaldas.pt) The inscription on the washing station is “the cold water that the sun warmed”. If you look closely, this washing station has solar panels.

The cliffs north of Foz do Arelho are simply stunning. With walkways installed a few years ago, walking along them is an unforgettable experience, with breathtaking views. At sunset, the landscape becomes even more magical. But be careful: if the wind is strong, be careful on the dirt roads!
