Great little walk of 4 miles. A short sharp climb to start with but well worth it for the views! The last half mile or so, along a lavada at the back of some houses, isn’t particularly attractive but the rest of the walk is great!

The Silves City Gate (Porta da Cidade) is one of the old gateways to the walled medieval city. It was part of the original city defenses and is located near the historic center and the castle. Although only a portion of the gate remains, it offers a good overview of the former city walls and Silves' strategic location as the former Moorish capital of the Algarve. It's an atmospheric place to experience the city's rich history.

The Silves Market (Mercado Municipal) is a charming, covered market hall in the center of Silves, built in 1922 and recently beautifully renovated. You'll find fresh produce such as fish, vegetables, fruit, bread, and regional products from local vendors every day. On Saturdays, it's especially lively with outdoor stalls.
