The Vesle Ula roars through a multi-armed granite canyon. An impressive spectacle, especially after the snow melts in August. By the way, it's hard to believe how clear the water is up here.

Unfortunately, the bridge is no longer there. As a result, the crossing is not possible without wet feet. The water is quite deep there.

A super beautiful place for a really easy hike in Norway, even for those with less fitness. On the longer stretch to the observation tower (turn right at the sign), we eventually found ourselves so deep in the swamp that I had to continue on my own, as footwear was crucial here. So if you don't mind getting a little dirty and stopping here and there to check for the best possible footholds, you can enjoy a beautiful hike here. With a bit of luck, you'll also see some beautiful birds and, at dusk, maybe even some wildlife.

At 2,286 m, Snøhetta, Stortoppen, is the highest peak in Dovrefjell. Magnificent views. Here are a few practical tips: Starting point: The most popular route starts at Snøheim (a DNT hut), accessible by shuttle bus from the parking lot in Hjerkinn (in summer). Duration: Approx. 5–7 hours (round trip), depending on fitness and weather. Distance: Approximately 12–14 km total, with approximately 900 meters of elevation gain. Difficulty: Moderate to difficult. Not a via ferrata, but rocky, steep in places, and slippery when wet.

Rising to 7,500 feet (2,286 m), Snøhetta is the highest summit in Norway outside of Jotunheimen. In the summer months, it's a popular objective from the Snøheim DNT cabin.

We were there on 9/20/24 and the bridge had already been dismantled. Since the huts are only inhabited until the end of August/mid-September, the crossing is dismantled over the winter. The river has a strong current at this time and is relatively deep! It is possible, but risky ;) We didn't have time to go around the outside as the sun was already setting. The landscape behind the village on the other side is also very swampy! But we won't forget the bridgeless crossing so quickly ;)

This quaint hillside botanical garden is just off the road and is home to hundreds of different plant species, all marked with multilingual signs. The winding paths are demarcated with wooden slats and there are also several wooden bridges in the garden. If you want to walk everything, you have to overcome a few meters in altitude. From the top you can expect a great view of the valley and hiking trails (Kongevegen and Pilegrimsleden/Olavsweg) above the garden lure you into the mountains.
