The chapel is located in the main building of the castle... as was common at the time, it is richly decorated and adorned... church lovers should not miss the chapel during their visit.

The area is accessible by bike. The castle is in a wonderful location. Today it houses an elite boarding school. One of the most expensive ever. Among other things, Lilli Schweiger attended boarding school

The castle chapel was built around 1590. Between 1610 and 1614 the "Ducal Prayer Room" was built between the galleries in the north of the chapel. It too was restored, including the inlaid coffered ceiling. The work on the palace chapel alone cost around 450,000 euros. The funds come from a project decided in 1999, which is intended to highlight the importance of the Baroque as an outstanding epoch of Gottorf's heyday and will run until autumn 2008. A total of 1.5 million euros can be spent on this, 50 percent of which are EU funds. The State Office for the Preservation of Monuments assumed the cost of the prayer room of 20,000 euros. Beautiful and exciting facility. But the entrances are now covered with "no trespassing". Maybe just a temporary measure because of Corona? I hope so.

Schloss Louisenlund was built around 1775 on the estate Tegelhave, which had been bought in 1563 by Duke Adolf of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf. The building is named after the daughter of the Danish King Friedrich V. Louise and her husband, Landgrave Carl von Hessen, who served as Gottorfer governor of the Kingdom of Denmark, used it as a summer residence. Today Louisenlund is owned by the family of the ducal line Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg. After it was seized by the Kriegsmarine during World War II and later also used as refugee accommodation, Friedrich Herzog of Schleswig-Holstein made the property available to the Stiftung Louisenlund in 1949 as a country education center and boarding school for sailors. The Masonic Park designed by Carl von Hessen is considered the most important in Europe. Guided tours of the area are available by appointment.
