A very beautiful medieval town square. Highlights include Heini Staudinger's GEA store and the Lubinger pastry shop.

Rosenhof Castle was built in 1760. Unfortunately, the beautiful castle complex can only be viewed from the outside.

The only castle in the Feistritztal is the Dornach Fortress. It is still preserved today as an impressive and worth seeing castle. Privately owned...

The medieval brewing town of Freistadt impresses with the charm of small alleys, bay windows and courtyards paired with the urban advantages of a district capital.

The castle ruins, which unfortunately cannot be visited, are a nice photo opportunity and the bench in front of it invites you to take a break. The single up is of medium difficulty.

Dornach Castle, which stands on the edge of a rocky cliff, belonged to the Weinberg estate. Dornach was first mentioned in a document in 1416 as the fortress of Hans Lasberger; this may have been the builder of the castle. In 1436 Simon Volkra bought the Veste from Hans Lasberger. The Volkra owned the castle as a sovereign fief until 1505, when Stephan Volkra sold his Dornach property to Veit von Zelking, who combined the small dominion with that of Weinberg. In 1963 the castle was acquired by the Freistadt businessman Franz Burgermeister and renovated in a stylish manner. Since his death in 1998, the facility has been owned by his daughter. The main castle (with the exception of the keep) is rented out and set up as a weekend home for those people. Since the castle is privately owned, a visit is only possible by arrangement with the owner. Visit price by agreement. No visits possible on weekends!
