The Boker Canal flows for a good 30 kilometers from Schloß Neuhaus to Lippstadt. Between Schloß Neuhaus and Delbrück, a cycle path runs almost entirely along the canal. The Boker-Heide-Kanal (or Boker Canal for short) is one of the most important technical cultural monuments in Westphalia. It was completed in 1853 after a construction period of around five years. The canal is diverted from the Lippe River west of Paderborn-Schloß Neuhaus and flows for a length of 32 kilometers via Sande and Delbrück to Cappel near Lippstadt, where it flows back into the Lippe. With an ingenious system of side canals, locks, and weirs, it was used until the 1950s to irrigate and fertilize the barren heathland soils. Today, the Boker Canal is a popular destination, especially for cyclists. https://www.teutoburgerwald.de/region/ausflugsziele/mein-ziel/boker-heide-kanal-bei-sande

Eleven benches, each in a different color and each with a display case, form a "bench group" throughout Westenholz, inviting visitors to linger. The display cases feature changing themes from art, culture, history, nature, and more.

The overflow is worth seeing again when you are "saturated" by the total water surface and have already climbed the bird observation house

If the Lippesee is too crowded for me, I like to go this way

A barrage that regulates the water level in the Steinhorst Basin. A fish ladder completes the whole thing!
