Unfortunately, it's only open on weekends and public holidays, but the food is great and the service is friendly. And for the beer drinkers: try the Frauendorfer Hetzel!

Cute little zoo, dogs are allowed...a nice change of pace for rehabilitation patients and, of course, children too. https://www.tierpark-bad-liebenstein.de/

The Ida Memorial, located below Liebenstein Castle, was erected in 1854 by Duke Bernhard II of Saxe-Meiningen as a token of gratitude to his sister Ida, based on plans by Friedrich August Stüler, Court Architect and Director of the Palace Building Commission in Berlin. After World War II, the memorial was destroyed except for the stele. In 2004, thanks to supporters and sponsors, the memorial was restored to its original state. Princess Ida, herself a mother of six children, was very popular for her popular appeal and support of the population. Through Ida's intervention, Friedrich Fröbel was able to establish the first school for kindergarten teachers in Germany in 1849, initially in Liebenstein Castle and, from 1850, in Marienthal Castle, which the ducal house of Saxe-Meiningen made available to him. On the front of the Gothic-style stele is a marble relief portrait of Duchess Ida.
