Welcome to the "Niedersächsische Mühlenstraße" (Lower Saxony Mill Road) ... it was founded in 1998 under the sponsorship of the "Mühlenförderverein Lüneburg e.V." (MFV Lbg.) and has so far led to 427 mill locations in 29 districts. The declared goal from the beginning was to extend it to the whole of Lower Saxony. Therefore, the founding association handed over the sponsorship for the Mill Road to the state-wide "Mühlenvereinigung Niedersachsen-Bremen e.V." (MVNB) in mid-2004. The continuation of the successful tourist route is the responsibility of the independently operating "Arbeitsgruppe Mühlenstraße" (Mill Road Working Group), whose tasks are regulated in a cooperation agreement with the sponsoring association MVNB and the founding association MFV Lbg. The patron of the project is the Lower Saxony Minister of Agriculture Gert Lindemann. The mill owners, with their open and willing attitude, made the creation of the Niedersächsische Mühlenstraße possible in the first place.

The Bruns Nursery's Rhododendron Park is located in the Gristede Forest on the road from Wiefelstede to Bad Zwischenahn. Chinese sequoias provide shade, while other specimen trees create interesting focal points amidst the magnificent rhododendrons. Over 1,000 different rhododendron varieties and hardy azaleas form the core of the collection. It is particularly worth seeing between May and June, when the park transforms into a colorful floral landscape. Two ponds and an impressive park pavilion complete the picture. The 25-hectare grounds also serve as a show garden for the Gristede New Products®, as special emphasis is placed on rhododendron breeding. More than 150 varieties have already been developed here. With its numerous seating areas and restrooms, the park is ideal for a break during a bicycle tour or for a day trip.

St. Paul's Church in Ocholt Some time ago, a parishioner remarked: "The tower of St. Paul's Church, with its distinctive onion dome, has become the 'O' in Ocholt for me." It couldn't be expressed more beautifully. The church tower has indeed become something of a landmark, even though its construction in 1956 was fiercely debated by the local population. What was an onion dome doing in the Ammerland region? But by now, the people of Ocholt have grown accustomed to the tower and, to a large extent, have surely come to love it.

The wetlands near Leer in East Frisia are characterized by the river landscapes of the Ems and Leda rivers, as well as adjacent marshes and moors. They provide important habitats for rare meadow birds and are a significant recreational area.
