The railway bridge is an important element of the railway line built in 1865-66 connecting Jelenia Góra with Zgorzelec and Berlin. On September 9, 1866, an 8-span brick viaduct over the Bóbr river was opened. In May 1945, retreating German troops blew up the bridge. In the years 1951-1954, a new viaduct was built, one of the most beautiful in Poland. It is a reinforced concrete structure, supported by a single ellipsoidal arch, 33 meters high. Its construction differs significantly from the original.
