Park your car at this location and you will be right at the trailhead for Humphreys Peak Trail. Come early, especially on a weekend as the parking lot fills up quickly – and so does the trail. There are pit toilets at the trailhead.

In the desert state of Arizona, the Arizona Snowbowl is something special. Mount Humphreys, Arizona's highest mountain, towers up next to you, becoming a skier's El Dorado every winter and into early May. The ski resort, with six chairlifts and two lodges, covers about 1 percent of the entire San Francisco Peaks.

This beginner friendly loop offers a fun reward halfway through with the ruins an old, abandoned cabin. On some of the basalt rock around the area, you might even be able to find some pictographs etched into the walls. The water of the actual springs is rarely running, but the ruins in the middle of the loop make this hike so worthwhile.

Enjoy this one of several Aspen groves that you will pass through during your hike here at Snowbowl. Though each tree appears to be a different living creature, the entire collection of trees is connected via an elaborate root system, making this Aspen grove one of the largest living organisms in this vast wilderness area.
