The first astronomy club in Varna was founded in 1960. Eight years later, on May 22, 1968, the first opened its doors Bulgarian astronomy - complex, later famous Polish according to scientist and founder of modern astronomy Nikolaus Kopernkus (Polish Nikolai Kopernik) was named.
