August 20, 2026, Camosun Bog

Camosun Bog, or xʷməm̓qʷe:m in hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓, sits within Pacific Spirit Regional Park on the unceded territory of the Musqueam Nation, who traditionally used the bog for food, medicine and raw materials. It formed over thousands of years, developing into a bog around 2,000 years ago, but decades of drainage and development altered its water table and put the ecosystem at risk. A boardwalk now winds through the bog, and volunteers with the Camosun Bog Restoration Group have worked since the early 1990s to restore its water levels and peat-forming habitat, giving this rare ecosystem a chance to recover.

August 20, 2026, Camosun Bog Boardwalk

Camosun Bog Boardwalk is a 300-metre wooden walkway that winds through and around the bog, allowing you to explore the wetland without damaging its fragile sphagnum moss. There are interpretive signs along the way that explain the bog’s plants, ecology, and significance to the Musqueam Nation, including Labrador tea, bog laurel and carnivorous sundews. As you explore, it's important to stay on the boardwalk to help protect this sensitive ecosystem.

Here, the Sasamat Trail meets with the St. Georges Trail. Because the junction is located near the eastern edge of the park, it is highly accessible if you enter from the nearby neighborhood streets like 16th Avenue or Sasamat Street.

April 23, 2026, Forest Path

The trail is mostly flat, which makes it very easy for you to enjoy a relaxing stroll or a quick jog. Because the trees are so thick, the path stays shaded and comfortable even on a hot summer day. You will notice that many people bring their dogs here, as many parts of the trail allow them to be off-leash.

A tranquil forest walk hidden within the city, the Sword Fern Trail winds through dense cedar and fir inside Pacific Spirit Regional Park. Thick ferns line the path and sunlight filters through the canopy — it feels miles from Vancouver, yet it’s right on its edge.

The Spanish Banks beaches are located west of Jericho Beach on the shores of English Bay in the West Point Gray neighborhood. The name dates back to 1792 when the fleets of the English and Spanish ships, under George Vancouver and Galiano and Valdés respectively, met here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_Banks
