The Darßwald is a forest area on the western part of the Darß peninsula. There are no settlements in the forest area. Surrounding villages are Ahrenshoop and Born in the south, as well as Wieck and Prerow in the east. The Darßwald covers 5800 hectares and is part of the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park. The area around Darßer Ort and the northwestern part of the forest area belong to protection zone 1, where no human use is intended and a natural development of the areas is aimed for.
