Britway cemetery was attached o an old Celtic church. The churchyard containes the graves of Fr. Cornelius O’Brien, who was parish priest of Castlelyons from 1670 to 1720, and Liam Rua Mac Coitir, a locally famous poet who lived from 1675 to 1738. The cemetery has been used for much longer than this, the Ogham Stone dates from some point between the 4th and 6th centuries.

Doneraile House dates back to the 17th century when it was originally built by Sir Arthur St Leger. The lands have been actually in possession of the St Ledger family since 1636, and thirteen generations of the family have remained in residence until 1969. It is a beautiful building with tours available on payment only; there is also a cafe on site.
