"Biały Gościniec" is the official name of the place, which has been visible on the maps of Śrem and Środa Poviats for over a hundred years. On the Kreis Schrimm map from 1914 it is marked as "Weißer Krug". Krug in German means not only a jug, but also an inn, and this was also the function of the buildings. Where does an inn come from in such a remote area? This is explained by the abbreviation "W.F." on the above-mentioned map, i.e. Wagenfähre - the place of a ferry crossing over the Warta River for horse-drawn carriages, which existed here already during the Prussian partition, certainly also in the interwar period. You can find old photos of buildings on the Internet; the one from 1930 shows the Polish sign "Biały Gościniec" with the name of the owner - Władysław Skrzypczak. The black and white photo shows a group of eight people, perhaps the owner's family, perhaps the inn's guests.

The church was built at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries, using the remains of a Romanesque building from the 13th century. In 1648, two side chapels were added. Approx. half. the facade was crowned with a high, gothic-renaissance stepped gable. In the years 1904-1905, the old presbytery was demolished and a new one was erected in its place. Renovated in 1970 by Stanisław and Teodor Szukała. Around the church there are tombstones of the Chłapowski family. General Dezydery Chłapowski and his father, Józef Chłapowski, rest in the family tomb.

As you can see on the map - there is a place where you can get lost on the embankments. Between Bystrzkiem and Sroczewo, the trail on the embankment goes in a different direction than the river and moves away from the river to turn sharply in a moment...

Nice stretch near the river on the dike. Partly very overgrown. Not for the faint of heart. Nice and you can drive through. MTB helpful!
