The hotel is a great starting point for various hikes. It can be reached via a fairly rocky forest road. There are various rooms for overnight stays and a nice selection of food and drinks to fortify yourself before or after the hike. You can also admire the Milky Way wonderfully on clear nights.

Panský Diel Summit Viewpoint

Highlight • Summit

In the winter you can use ski-lift of course however Panský diel is the great target of <3 hours afternoon but steep walking from Banská Bystrica. Short way is to get there by car using asphalt road to the Hotel Šachtička with great cuisine by the north hillside. Panský diel is the great waypoint to the Špania Dolina. This is not advertisement but I am sure I have to recommend great local craft beer brewery "Divný Les" (weird forrest :-) ) based in the Hotel Šachtička. This beer you can enjoy also in the seasonally open buffet on the top of Panský Diel.

May 15, 2026, Zvolen Summit (1,402 m)

Only the two wooden beams form a cross here in its simplest form. And yet, this small sacred monument – like all crosses that the (mountain) hiker encounters on the way – is an essential Christian symbol. It stands for the remembrance of his crucifixion, but at the same time also for the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The following quote comes from the important French founder of orders and church teacher, Saint Bernard of Clairvaux: + "With us on earth, there is His memory, but in the kingdom of heaven, there is His presence: this presence is the joy of those who have already attained bliss. The memory is our comfort, we who are still wanderers and are traveling towards our homeland."
