The largest dam in Lower Saxony offers plenty of nature and stands as a significant structure in the region. However, it was already very empty at the beginning of October, which was truly alarming. Circling it by bike or on foot is possible and offers a lot of variety. There isn't much in the way of gastronomy, so if anything, I recommend bringing enough food and drink. Passenger boat services were already discontinued in 2025.

A very beautiful path right through nature, where you can still see old railway bridges in some places. The paths are covered with fine to coarse gravel and it shakes quite a bit when cycling.
