A scenic, moderately challenging trail along Folsom Lake with about 13 miles out-and-back. Watch for poison oak and share the path with cyclists and horses. Bring waterโ€”thereโ€™s little shadeโ€”and expect a $12 park fee. Great lake views make it worth it!

This paved trail winds between Old Sacramento and Folsom โ€” 32 miles in all โ€” linking you up with lots of parks along the way. Plus some gorgeous views of the river it more or less parallels!

The American River along this area is dammed up and widened to form the longitudinal Lake Natoma. The Trail follows on both sides. The Western side seems less used by bikers and can be better for running, with great views across the water.

Great views of Lake Natoma from the American River Bike Trail. The trail is paved and this section follows along the banks of the lake, so there are multiple spots that give you these amazing views.
