An impressive place in the middle of nature: The former quarry has been transformed into a deep blue lake, framed by steep cliffs ⛰️. The small island in the water is particularly fascinating, giving the lake almost something mystical ✨.

The Mainz Gate (Buchen City Tower) has a carillon that chimes on the hour and has a repertoire of 100 melodies. It's a real carillon with a console in the Eiermannstube (egg room) at the top of the tower.

Town Tower Town tower in Buchen's city center. Buchen originally had four gate towers within the city fortifications: the Hainstadt Gate, the Seetor, the Würzburg Gate, and the Mainz Gate (today's town tower). Above the outer archway is Buchen's well-known carnival symbol, the "Blecker." Different construction periods can be seen on the picturesque gate tower. The two lower stories presumably date from the early Gothic period around 1309, and the two upper stories from the late Gothic period around 1490. The octagonal Baroque onion dome was rebuilt after the great fire in Buchen (1719 - see the coat of arms above the inner archway).
