Place of solar beauty, surrounded by large rock walls. In summer it may seem less with the lower water flow but it is still worth it. I advise you to approach it by the track, from the disabled exit, very quiet and without difficulty

This 1150-meter high pass is located at a "gate" providing access to the source of the Río Mundo. On this esplanade, you can park your vehicle to then set off on foot along a beautiful path. This area even has an underpass to cross the national road.

Traveler's gaze I confess that for a few seconds I felt that small disappointment that accompanies deferred dreams. But I soon understood that the mountain was not closing the way for us; it was simply telling us to come back another day. And, deep down, few excuses are as good for returning to a place that still has an unfinished story with you.

The arrow leaves little room for doubt: Nacimiento del Río Mundo. After several kilometers of walking along paths through pine forests and following the course of the river, reading that name produces a mixture of excitement and satisfaction. The destination seemed to be within reach. However, rarely does a sign so accurately reflect the difference between the map and reality. Just a few meters ahead, forest rangers informed us that access was closed due to stabilization work on the landslides caused by the heavy rains of recent months. There was no possibility of continuing. The decision was logical and necessary to ensure the safety of visitors, even if it meant giving up, for this time, on contemplating the spectacular source of the Río Mundo. We had to accept the mountain as it presented itself and retrace our steps.

The traveler's view. It was one of those moments when we understood that the mountain always has the last word. We got off the bike without hesitation. It wasn't a matter of effort, but of respect. While we pushed the bikes between stones and furrows opened by the flood, I imagined the force with which the water had traveled that same place long ago. Those scars were not an obstacle; they were the testimony of a nature capable of transforming the landscape in a single night.

Did you know that...? Mountain rivers do not shape the landscape continuously, but through large flood events. In just a few hours, they can completely alter a trail, open new channels, or transport multi-ton blocks, helping to sculpt the relief we see today.

At this point, the Mundo River reminds us that, although it usually flows serenely between pine forests and rocky outcrops, its character can change completely after torrential rain episodes. The force of the water overflowed the riverbed and swept away part of the trail, exposing stones, roots, and deep scars in the terrain. Today, passage is still possible, but it is advisable to get off your bike and proceed with caution.
