The Lonja de la Seda de Valencia, also known as Lonja de los Mercaderes (in Valencian Llotja de la Seda or Llotja de Mercaders), is a representative work of Valencian civil Gothic architecture located in the historic center of Valencia. It was declared a National Monument in 1931 and, in 1996, was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The building is located in Plaza del Mercado, number 31, opposite the church of the Santos Juanes and the Central Market of Valencia. "an absolutely exceptional example of a secular building in the late Gothic style, splendidly illustrating the power and wealth of one of the great mercantile cities of the Mediterranean"
