The Église Saint-Martin-le-Vieux is located near Casteil at the foot of the Canigou, not far from the Saint-Martin-du-Canigou Abbey. In the Middle Ages, it was the first parish church of Casteil and was probably built shortly after the founding of the neighboring abbey. Its location corresponds to the "Castrum Sancti Martini" mentioned as early as 937, an early fortification of Vernet. According to tradition, the church also served as the monks' burial chapel; excavations in 1977 brought to light numerous human remains. In the 17th century, the church was abandoned and gradually fell into ruin. Between 1977 and 1979, it was largely rebuilt, preserving the surviving Romanesque architectural elements. Today, the simple building with its bell tower provides a good impression of the early Romanesque sacred architecture of the Catalan Pyrenees.

A very pleasant route in summer thanks to the coolness and the constant presence of the Saint-Vincent River, which flows down from the Conques du Canigó. The atmosphere of these gorges and the roar of the waterfalls will enchant you. Be careful, as this steep trail carries a risk of falling rocks and boulders. Follow the signs. Do not use during storms, rain, or flooding. Cross the stream via a ford at the second waterfall. Rocky path. Hiking boots are strongly recommended. Note: The trail is closed from September 30th to April 1st (municipal decree in effect).

This beautiful Romanesque building has a richly decorated main portal in pink marble, undoubtedly by the same sculptors as those who created the cloister of the Abbey of Saint-Michel-de-Cuixà.

This ancient trading town, the capital of Conflent, has preserved some beautiful traces of its history and its status as a defensive town. Examples include the ramparts and the Viguerie Tower, built by the Count of Cerdagne in the 11th century and subsequently reinforced by Vauban's fortifications in the 17th century.
