This was a straightforward, half-day, out-and-back ride from Aberystwyth to Devil’s Bridge. Our outward route was on the Rheidol trail, which is mostly quite flat but has nearly all the ascent after Cwm Rheidol reservoir. Unfortunately, we did not have enough time to go on either of the walks (Punchbowl and three bridges, and Waterfalls and nature trail). We came back along the A4120, which has a more even gradient and was not busy. It also gave great views over the valley on the return journey. From the Ystwyth trail, there is an alternative dead-end route towards the old mine and Pant-y-ddwyriw, which might have been a better option given we did not have time for the walks at Devil’s Bridge.
