The loop typically starts and ends in Sóller. You can find parking in Sóller town. Alternatively, Sóller is well-connected by public transport, including a historic train and tram, making it easy to access the trailhead without a car.
The trail offers a diverse and engaging terrain. You'll encounter a mix of cobbled paths, quiet roads, dirt tracks, and stony paths. Expect to walk through lush valleys, terraced hillsides, and historic stone-paved routes, often winding through fragrant olive and citrus groves.
This loop is rich in highlights. You'll pass through charming villages like Sóller, Biniaraix, and Fornalutx. Key points include Sóller's Constitution Square, the historic Public Trail (Son Llampaies–Coll d'en Marquès), and the breathtaking View of Port de Sóller from the Mirador de ses Barques. A significant highlight is the ascent to Sa Capelleta, offering panoramic views of the valley.
This loop is generally considered of moderate difficulty. While some sections, particularly the ascent to Sa Capelleta, involve steep cobbled paths, many parts are pleasant with gentle inclines. It's suitable for most fitness levels and can be enjoyed by families with children over six years old who are used to walking.
No, there are no specific permits or entrance fees required to hike this loop or generally within the Serra de Tramuntana mountains. However, always respect private property, stay on marked paths, and follow local regulations to preserve the natural environment.
The best times to hike this loop are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During these seasons, the weather is typically mild and pleasant, and the landscapes are vibrant with spring blossoms or autumn colors. Summer can be very hot, making early morning starts essential, while winter can bring cooler temperatures and occasional rain.
Yes, this loop is generally dog-friendly. However, it's crucial to keep your dog on a leash, especially when passing through villages, near agricultural areas, or where livestock might be present. Always carry water for your dog and clean up after them.
Yes, this route utilizes sections of several official trails. You'll find yourself on parts of the GR 221 Dry Stone Route: Stage 5: Muleta - Tossals verds, the GR 221 Dry Stone Route: Variant 6 Sa Costera: stretch Binibassí - Cala Tuent, and the Port de Sóller - Sóller path. It also incorporates the historic Camí de sa Capelleta and Camí de Son Llampaies.
Yes, the loop passes through the charming villages of Sóller, Biniaraix, and Fornalutx, all of which offer various cafes, restaurants, and shops where you can stop for refreshments, a meal, or to stock up on supplies. Fornalutx, in particular, is known for its picturesque squares with inviting eateries.
Prepare for stunning panoramic views throughout the hike. You'll be treated to magnificent vistas of Sóller and its valley, the dramatic peaks of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains, and glimpses of the Mediterranean Sea from higher points like the Mirador de ses Barques and Sa Capelleta. The agricultural terraces and citrus groves also add to the scenic beauty.
Given the moderate difficulty and varied terrain, it's advisable to wear sturdy hiking shoes. Bring plenty of water, especially during warmer months, and snacks. Sun protection (hat, sunscreen) is essential, as are layers of clothing to adapt to changing temperatures. A camera is a must for the incredible views!
Did a slightly easier tour today as the weather was mostly rainy, windy and cold. Start and finish was in the beautiful town of Soller. Unfortunately we didn't have a good view from the Mirador on Port de Soller today. Overall, it was still an interesting tour, which is a bit more pleasant to walk in better weather. Have a nice evening. 🙋♂️😊
Here the world is still in order! Peace and idyll in lonely valleys, on the mountain, through olive groves, lemon and orange trees. 🍋🍊🫒🤸♀️🥾☀️🌳⛰️⛪️ At the beginning I thought that it wouldn't be a very nice hike because it started directly in Soller. And 2-3 km through a city, I do not like. It also went long on overgrown paths. But once started on the hiking trail, it was beautiful, lonely and absolutely versatile! This trail was created thanks to the consent of the Pivat people to let hikers across their properties! Thanks to the people ❤️ on site!
