Running

This route links the Bourgoyen, Drieleienroute, water sports course and the Blaarmeersen. You combine the best of what this corner of Ghent has to offer on a varied course with a mix of paved and unpaved roads.

For most of the time you walk in the green and along the water of the Lys, the marshes of the Bourgoyen nature park and the lake of the Blaarmeersen. That's why this is the route I prefer for an 'LSD' (Long Slow Distance) run. The route lends itself to freeing your head and making kilometers carefree, especially at sunrise or sunset!

You can start at different points. Both Drongen, the car park at the main entrance of the Bourgoyen (Driepikkelstraat 32) and the Topsporthal on the Watersportbaan are a good base to start the route.

Watersportbaan Ghent

Highlight • Trail

The Watersportbaan is the ideal place in Ghent to run a continuous loop of 5km. You have the choice between a paved or unpaved (Finnish piste) path. Both paths run next to each other. Here you are guaranteed to meet other runners and you will never exercise alone.

Topsporthal Gent

Highlight • Rest Area

The Topsporthal Vlaanderen opened its doors in 2000. The hall was built in the context of the European Indoor Athletics Championships, of which Ghent was the host city.

Top athletes from different disciplines come together in the building to train within the organization of Topsport Vlaanderen.

There is sufficient parking space in front of the top sports hall and also a bus stop if you go there by public transport.
