Cañada de las Ánimas

Highlight • Forest

The path enters the Cañada de las Ánimas and crosses a forest of centuries-old Spanish firs with their unique, bulging and twisted trunks and branches with spirally arranged leaves. The Sierra de las Nieves National Park is famous for its Spanish firs, an endemic fir from southern Spain that only grows naturally in a few mountain ranges in Málaga and Cádiz. It has survived the last ice ages and is a true botanical and forestry relic.
