The path features varied terrain. While some sections traversing the cliffs are easy, accessing Playa de Mar de Fóra specifically involves ascents and descents, including a steep slope down to the beach. Once at the beach, you'll find 700 meters of fine sand, and some areas near the beach have wooden walkways.
While the broader Camino Finisterre is generally considered easy, this specific path includes some challenging sections with ascents and a steep descent to the beach. Hikers should be prepared for varied terrain, but it is manageable for those with a reasonable fitness level.
The path offers breathtaking coastal scenery, including panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, dramatic cliffs, and pine forests. You'll get a great View of Langosteira Beach and a stunning View from Monte Veladoiro. Playa de Mar de Fóra itself is known for its impressive sunsets and its status as the westernmost beach in Europe.
There is an approximately 400-meter path from where one might leave a car to access Playa de Mar de Fóra. Specific parking areas are typically found near the town of Fisterra, from which you can begin your hike towards the beach.
The path is generally dog-friendly, allowing you to enjoy the coastal scenery with your canine companion. However, it's always recommended to keep dogs on a leash, especially in areas with wildlife or near steep drops, and to respect local regulations.
The path can be enjoyed year-round, but spring and autumn offer pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds. Summer provides longer daylight hours, ideal for experiencing the renowned sunsets, but can be busier. Always check local weather conditions before heading out, as coastal weather can change quickly.

Playa de Mar de Fóra is unique for its secluded, wild coastal environment, offering a sense of solitude often sought by pilgrims after completing the main Camino routes. It holds historical and spiritual significance, with evidence of ancient practices, and is renowned for its impressive sunsets as the westernmost beach in Europe.
Today, on Sunday, it is still very quiet on the shore path and we are enjoying it, only a few beach walkers and shell hunters are out and about. The three of us all have a bit of a cold but we were able to set off again as a group of three. Very nice. We decided to do a short 10 km loop to enjoy nature. First we went briefly towards the town and from there we walked to the Atlantic and climbed up the cliffs. The view from above is simply gigantic, the wide open sea and there is a small roll sailing on it that you can hardly see. From the highest point we hiked through mixed and eucalyptus forest. I am always amazed by this lushness, this abundance of nature. Even the forest floor is bursting with green. Such natural disorder in the forest‼️
