A beautiful training walk before setting off on the English Way to Santiago de Compostela 👣👣. The seaside paths leading to the watery Tower of Hercules are very beautiful. One of the oldest functioning Roman lighthouses in the world.
Today we were out and about in A Coruna with wonderful weather and pleasant temperatures. Tomorrow we have a day at sea and the day after tomorrow we are in Dover. LG and have a nice weekend 🙋♂️😎🍺
The symbol of the city is the Hercules Tower. He has shown seafarers the way since the time of the Roman Emperor Trajan (around the year 110). The lighthouse is an active shipping sign and is therefore also the oldest active sight for shipping.
The city in Galicia, in the far northwest of Spain, has over 250,000 inhabitants. Its naturally sheltered harbor was used by the Phoenicians, Celts, and Romans. The latter built a lighthouse, the so-called Tower of Hercules, in the north of the city around 110 AD. The current 55-meter-high lighthouse is the oldest working lighthouse in the world; it is the city's landmark and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
