This route was planned by komoot.
The route primarily follows the Pista Ciclabile Val Rendena, which is largely paved and protected, making it suitable for touring cyclists. It features continuous, gentle ups and downs, with some short but intense climbs in certain sections. You'll be cycling along the Sarca river, through meadows and forests.
While sections of the Pista Ciclabile Val Rendena are generally accessible with an undulating and tranquil nature, the overall tour is rated as difficult. This is due to its length of over 44 km and an elevation gain of over 930 meters, which includes some short but intense climbs. It's suitable for riders with good fitness looking for a challenging touring experience.
The best time to cycle this route is generally from late spring through early autumn (May to October). During these months, the weather is most favorable, and the natural beauty of the Adamello Brenta Park is at its peak. Always check local weather conditions before you go.
Generally, there are no specific permits or entrance fees required for cycling on the Pista Ciclabile Val Rendena or other designated cycling routes within the Adamello Brenta Natural Park. However, as it is a protected area and a UNESCO Global Geopark, please respect all park regulations regarding waste, wildlife, and designated paths.
You can find parking in Pinzolo to start your tour. The Pista Ciclabile Val Rendena is well-connected, and Pinzolo serves as a convenient starting point with various parking options available in the town. Look for public parking areas near the cycle path access points.
This route offers stunning scenery and several points of interest. You'll pass by the San Lorenzo Church, Pinzolo, and cycle along the beautiful Cycle path between Carisolo and Caderzone Terme. Further along, you'll find alpine huts like Malga di Bedole and Rifugio Adamello Collini al Bedole. The route also provides views of the Brenta Dolomites, the Adamello-Presanella mountain groups, and the impressive Nardis Waterfalls.
While the Adamello Brenta Natural Park generally welcomes dogs, they must be kept on a leash at all times to protect wildlife and ensure the safety of other visitors. Please also ensure you clean up after your dog. Always check specific local regulations for any areas you plan to visit off the main cycle path.
Yes, this touring cycling route incorporates sections of several other paths. Notably, it follows a significant portion of the Pista Ciclabile Val Rendena. You will also encounter parts of the Sentiero della Pace - Tappa 2, Sentiero San Vili alto - Tappa 5, and Sentiero San Vili basso - Tappa 6, among others.
Yes, the Pista Ciclabile Val Rendena is well-equipped. You'll find rest areas with tables and benches, as well as various bars, kiosks, and refreshment points in the villages along the route. There's also a 'bicigrill' near Vigo Rendena that offers mechanical assistance for cyclists.
The Adamello Brenta Natural Park is renowned for its rich biodiversity. Keep an eye out for various bird species, deer, chamois, and marmots. The park is also famous for being home to the reintroduced brown bear, though sightings are rare. Remember to observe wildlife from a distance and avoid disturbing their natural habitat.
While the overall tour is rated difficult due to its length and elevation, sections of the Pista Ciclabile Val Rendena are generally considered accessible and suitable for families who prefer a less strenuous ride. However, be aware that the full tour involves significant climbs and distance, so assess your family's fitness level accordingly. For a more relaxed family experience, consider shorter segments of the cycle path.
A "must" for cycling in western Trentino: the Val Genova. We have also included in the route a small section of the Val Rendena cycle path, number 6, which here overlaps with the DOGA cycle path (DOlomiti - GArda). Departure from Strembo so as not to miss the Haflinger of the Cimbrian artist Marco Martalar (see photo). Then up to Pinzolo along the left bank of the Sarca to visit the church of San Vigilio famous for the medieval fresco of the danse macabre. We enter the Val Genova at Carisolo passing by another famous church: that of Santo Stefano, perched on a cliff that dominates the entrance to the valley. The season is ideal for a bike ride, few tourists, little traffic and the countless waterfalls in the valley are full of spring meltwater. The most famous, that of Nardis, is truly spectacular. We find some deviations near some streams where the 2023 flood damaged the bridges. There is some work in progress but we can pass without any problems. We notice that they are testing the new bridges so it is likely that these will be passable for the summer. We arrive at the Bedole refuge where we stop for lunch. It is a pity for the low clouds that hide the peaks of the Adamello, only occasionally do we manage to glimpse the snow-capped Lobbie. We descend along the ascent route until just beyond Nardis where we manage to take a variant to return to Strembo following the cycle path on the right bank of the Sarca.
Easy tour departing from Carisolo for the Al Bedole refuge in Val Genova. Route on asphalt with final on dirt road. Suitable for everyone
Inspection for future epic tour.. more snow at Adamello Collini on the road... rain on the way back..
Very beautiful valley. Too bad for some cars that don't give up going up.....and for a nice downpour two thirds of the way down 😅
