Day 2 in the Teutoburg Forest / Egge Mountains Nature Park: Today we climbed to Velmerstot – the highest point in the Egge Mountains, with a magnificent view from the Egge Tower. The return journey through the enchanting Silberbach Valley was a real highlight: a babbling brook, wild nature, and plenty of hiking magic ✨.

GPX file) Own rating: 6 / 7⭐ Start / finish: free hiking car park "Alte Schule", Silbergrund 62, 32805 Horn-Bad Meinberg/Leopoldstal (51°50'46.2"N 8°57'55.2"E) Tour Highlights: - Silberbachtal - Prussian Velmerstot - Harrow tower - Lippe Velmerstot - 100% pure nature - fantastic far-reaching views - almost no traffic noise Briefly summarized: - I only met a handful of people in the initially bad weather - how surprising 😅 - well signposted - There were seating options (some with great views) at regular intervals🪑 - Path condition: mostly forest soil (+ root paths), pure mud paths, rocks & stones, some gravel / gravel and unfortunately a few meters of asphalt. Great tour that you should definitely have hiked! 😍 Exciting and adventurous paths that reward you with fantastic far-reaching views. 🔭 The tour including the mud fight was a lot of fun - waterproof hiking boots are the be-all and end-all! ⭐ There is a deduction for the combination of asphalted and deforested sections, which spoiled the hiking mood a bit. It might not be a bad thing for some, but this time I can't completely ignore it. 🤷🏼♀️
Today we tackled the Velmers ***** route! Unfortunately, you don't see that much beautiful from the Silberbach. Everything broken up by forest workers or peppered with deadwood. Nevertheless, the sometimes very winding trail was a nice experience. The view from the tower was great! The photos are arranged in 'first-the-sign, then-the-associated-photo' ... Unfortunately, I had to turn around at the end and make a detour, as the whole way was again cut down and therefore not passable (at least if you don't really know your way around). It was fun !! 🙂
Today we undertook a pure pleasure hike in the Eggegebirge 👍! We started in the small, picturesque village of Leopoldstal. On the first few meters, we discovered the Protestant church on the cycle path, which, thanks to a very friendly lady, we were also able to visit from the inside. A modern building, flooded with light! Services are held here, as well as an active community life in the form of concerts, lectures, and youth events. Afterwards, we continued through a light beech forest to the former grinding mill. Here we immediately encountered the Silberbach stream. In an impressively nature-shaped gorge, the stream babbles with a silvery shimmer, flowing around mossy stones and mighty sandstone blocks. Simply stop, look, and enjoy 😌! Wild, original, and close to nature, that's how we love it. Some time after crossing the stream, the path leads uphill via an idyllic root path. To the right and left are birches and blueberries. How dreamy must it be when these bushes glow bright red in autumn? We continued uphill along the Klippenweg to the newly built Eggeturm (after a psychopath had burned down the old one), from which we could enjoy a fantastic view of the surroundings all the way to the Hermann. The tower is located on the Preußische Vermerstot. It was only a stone's throw to the Lippische Velmerstot. Here the massive rock rises between the heath and the blueberry bushes. Of course, we climbed up. Afterwards, we descended steeply, past several former quarries, back to the starting point. The tour was absolutely top-notch 👍 🔝👍!
In nice autumn weather, we started from the hiking car park at Silbergrund. After a short walk through the settlement, we quickly come to a beautiful beech forest, which is so densely overgrown that the sunlight just comes through. For a long time it goes along Am Silberbach, which lives up to its name in the sun. The Silbermühle is currently only open to hotel guests. So we eat our sandwich with a view of the Silberbach. Up the first hill you can already see a great fall color on the bushes and trees. We have a great view of the changing blueberry slope from a lounger. Then it goes further up the Veldrom summit. On the border between the Eggegebirge and the Teutoburg Forest we walk along a beautiful hiking trail between the autumn colors on the ridge. On the Prussian Velmerstot, there is an observation tower with an even better view. Then we are caught by a short but heavy rain shower.
# More roots than paths. # Thus: real path finder feeling. # Cemetery of trees. # Promising first section. # The Silberbachtal is worth its weight in gold (really wildly romantic) # First through the high heath, later in the valley accompanied by two streams. # Very natural paths - over hill and dale (sure-footedness an advantage) # It was a beautiful short hike.
Due to the storm and forest work, it is sometimes difficult to walk on
