This route was planned by komoot.
Since Komoot had not recorded the tour properly (various "flight routes"), I had to reconstruct it. Very nice, recommendable tour! Click here for the Andalusia 2024 Collection: https://www.komoot.com/de-de/collection/3140525/-e-andalusien-2024
great tour Partly reminiscent of the irrigation channels in South Tyrol, very varied. If you have more time, you can do a twice as long tour
We started from Bubion because we only wanted to move our car, which we had parked with great effort 🚗, once more, namely on the way. 😂I stopped the recording in Capileira because I had no battery left. So there are another 1-2 km to go. A scenic and culturally very interesting tour in the Alpujarra.
The climbs in Capileira are tough, tough. Lost in a fantastically barren mountain landscape on the southern slope of the Sierra Nevada lies this village from the Moorish era. As in the Moroccan Atlas Mountains, the settlers created irrigated terraced fields and left behind unique architecture. And there is plenty of water. No one needs to lug plastic bottles to the hotel here. The hiking bottles can always be filled with the purest spring water at fountains. Directly from the hotel we went to Las Cebadillas, an abandoned town and past a hydroelectric power station. Here, at a good 1700m, the Toril and Naute rivers flow into the Poqueira river, which has formed this impressive gorge. 🤩
The Poqueira Gorge and the three villages that lie on its slopes have become one of the symbols of the Alpujarra - as the mountain region is called - of Granada. The enclave, which consists of Pampaneira, Bubión and Capileira, is famous for its natural beauty. Our hike started in Capileira, a beautiful, white mountain village, and ran below the highest mountain on the Iberian Peninsula, the 3479 m high Pico Mulhacén. Another gorge hike, but in terms of drama, feast for the eyes and ahs and ohs, it is nowhere near as dramatic as the Caras or del Rey gorges. Nevertheless, a very beautiful walk and great mountain paths, the smell of sheep dung and few people (also very nice if you come from the tourist hotspots).
