This route was planned by komoot.
Get up at 6:30 a.m., set off at 8:00 a.m. as planned. I wanted to try it again and tackle the "Devoluy round". The D994 was very passable up to Montmaur in the morning. Then I was greeted with fresh tarmac up to the Col du Festre. The unbelievably beautiful landscape accompanied me further over the Col de Rioupes. In the small town of St.-Etienne-en-Devoluy the climb to Superdevoluy begins. At the top, of course, the French winter retort awaited me, but somehow the town and buildings were at least somewhat in harmony with nature. After the same descent, the climb to the Col du Noyer began again on brand new surface (thanks to the TDF). Truly a dream! The descent, however, put everything else in the shade. First-class road layout including the Ulle curve and therefore not a Tour de France classic for nothing. A short stretch on the Route Napoleon and I ended up back in Gap. Conclusion: Dream lap with the racer following in the footsteps of Ulle, Vingegaard and Pogacar.
Or the Bure Plateau from all angles. A drooling day today! It was freezing this morning when I woke up. A very beautiful climb to the Col du Noyer with beautiful scenery. On the small roads that lead me to St Bonnet, a doe (or roe deer) crosses my path again: what luck! Afterwards, things are less fun with the crowds; I'm far from the tranquility of Dévoluy. The Col Bayard isn't very pleasant: uneven and full of traffic, but everything's going well. Like yesterday, it's not very warm with this nasty north wind. In Gap, I avoid the town center by following the alternative route from Valence: not so bad. Here I am now on the south side of the Bure Plateau. The D994 is not the most pleasant but a wide cycle lane does the trick before putting the arrow to go up to Montmaur and starting the looooong climb towards the Col de Festre, headwind in this wide valley
First ride on French soil, as the first climb I tackled the Col du Noyer, 7 km quite challenging and then descended a small stretch and started the ascent to the Col du Festre. The thing that struck me most in this area is the care of the territory and the roads, which are impeccably maintained.
