Inspired by @Anja, I put on my hiking boots and followed in her footsteps. I've explored the Schaalsee region several times by bike. It never occurred to me to hike here. Practice makes perfect, so let's go. And what can I say: "That was sooo beautiful. I didn't expect it to be like this." Meadows, forests, fields, and moors alternate. Sometimes you hike in the shade of old oak trees, sometimes across open fields. Birds of prey circle above in the sky, and cows graze below. Even an almost black snake scampered away from my feet. Unfortunately, it was a bit too fast to recognize which snake it was. The few short stretches on the road didn't spoil the experience. There's hardly anyone driving a car out here, and if there is, it's usually very leisurely. So, everything worked out perfectly on this tour, and next time I'll pack my swimming trunks.
I really enjoyed the Pahlhuus information center of the Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve 🦫 (see pictures). The moorland experience trail on a boardwalk is also nice, with information on the formation of a limestone fen and the moorland habitat. The sections of the trail along and near the Schaale River are particularly charming. I took a break at a birdwatching hut on Lake Boissow – the perfect shady spot on a hot summer day 🥵. The swimming areas were too crowded for me. 🏖️
amazingly beautiful paths, on this hike you cross 4x a deserted road, otherwise pure nature
Favorite round, counterclockwise this time. Very nice.
A beautiful hike from Zarrentin. It was a very diverse landscape.
Today I went with Sophie and her furry friend on a nice round trip to the Schaalsee. 🥰 The route took us first along the Moorlehrpfad and further on beautiful forest paths 🌳🌲. The spring could be heard again and again today and seen in some places 🪻🌸🌿🌞. The round was fun. 🤩 ⚠️ Attention: From Schaliß to the main road, the path is closed from 01.09. - 30.11. due to crane protection.
Today we went to the Schaalsee for an autumn round. Many thanks to Vita K. for presenting the tour ... 🤗 We really enjoyed the tour, which first led us along the educational moor trail and then on to beautiful forest trails 🌳🌲. Attention: From Schaliß to the main street the route is from 01.09. - 11/30 due to Crane protection blocked (this year until November 15th 💪🏼😊).
Despite the beach weather, I just set off, with my swimwear and water in my bag. Luckily, there was plenty of shade along the way - old avenues, sunken roads, lots of blackberries and a few fruit trees. I also revived an old passion - geocaching. I started it to get the kids going hiking, but when they were older it died down again. But now...
