Hiking
Embark on the Panorama tour around Puflatsch, a moderate hike spanning 5.5 miles (8.8 km) with an elevation gain of 1038 feet (316 metres), typically taking 2 hours and 42 minutes. This route guides you across wide alpine meadows and gentle hills, offering a constant 360-degree panorama of the Dolomites, including views of Val Gardena and the Schlern. You will encounter a mix of gravel, natural paths, and some paved sections, passing charming small wooden houses and, in summer, an abundance of wildflowers.
To begin your hike, head to Compatsch, the usual starting point for the Panorama tour. Keep in mind that private vehicle access to the plateau is restricted during certain hours, so you can reach Compatsch by the Seiser Alm Aerial Cableway or by bus. While there can be an initial steep ascent from Compatsch, you have the option to take the Telemix Puflatsch lift to bypass this section, making the rest of the trail relatively flat with occasional small climbs and descents.
This trail is celebrated for its unique features, including the mystical Witches' Benches (Hexenbänke), stone formations steeped in local folklore. You will also find the Engelsrast (Angel's Rest) viewing platform and Filln Cross, both offering outstanding vistas of the surrounding peaks. Along the way, you can stop at mountain huts like Tschötsch Alm or Arnika Hut for refreshments and to enjoy traditional Tyrolean cuisine amidst the stunning scenery.

This route was planned by komoot.
Because of the weather report, plan B started. According to the weather report, thunderstorms were announced from noon. So we decided on our Plan B for safety reasons, the Bullaccia circumnavigation. Started at the cable car station in Compatsch. From there the circumnavigation is well signposted. The path leads past alpine pastures and shelters. When the weather is nice, the view must be magnificent. With us you have hidden the Sciliar and the Kofels in the clouds ☁️ 😏. But all in all a great circumnavigation, with still few people. Really very relaxed 🙂😎
The most beautiful tour in the South Tyrolean Alps so far. Everything was just perfect, from the weather to the refreshment stops and the varied hiking trails to... and above all, the beautiful views of the valleys and mountains... New, even more beautiful views constantly open up here... The landscape is simply stunning, almost impossible to capture in photos.... If there's one criticism, it's perhaps that you're probably never alone on the first section, along wide gravel paths... It's very family-friendly. From about the second half of the route, the hiking trails become narrower and sometimes run directly along the slope... There was hardly anything else going on here. For me, up here, an absolute recommendation... Fantastically beautiful 🏔️☀️🥾🌲😍👍
Beautiful tour, great views and the mountain panorama of the Dolomites is amazing. It was also a bit cooler at the top today than in the valley. Parking space €26.50 (also the price for the cable car per person) Thanks to the cable car and large parking space, there are of course several people on the trail. There are enough huts with food. OK for people who like it. I prefer to go on other tours where there isn't so much going on!😉
From the P2 car park in Compatsch, we made the Bullaccia circumnavigation. Walked the round clockwise and had very good foresight in wonderful weather! Especially from the Gollerspitz and from the Hexenbänke you have very good visibility....both in the directly adjacent valleys (Gröden / Eisack) as well as to the mountains / mountain ranges (Plose, Sella, Sassolungo, Plattkofel, Sciliar, Ritten, Ortles etc...) Then took a ☀️ lunch break at the mountain restaurant and can enjoy both the sun and the peace and quiet. And then descent past the Tschötsch Alm back to the starting point in Compatsch. Highly recommended round...
This beautiful hike totally exceeded all expectations. An absolute must have if you are ever in the vicinity of South Tyrol.
Quiet ride, gloomy day and many refuges now closed, even with the clouds these places maintain their charm
We started this circular hiking trail from the Puflatsch mountain station (2100m) first in the direction of the Arnikahütte and then hiked to the Gollerspitze. There you have a beautiful view of Castelrotto, Marinzen and Lajen. It continued slightly uphill over the alpine meadows to the witches' benches. These are rock formations resembling real armchairs with stone arm and backrests. It is said that the witches liked to stay here to have a good overview of the entire area. The path then led up to the Fillner Kreuz (2150m). We continued in the direction of Puflatsch, past the Engelrast viewing platform with a magnificent view of the Dolomites. The descent is a bit bumpy and steep, but quite short back to Kompatsch.
