A picture-perfect mountain hike – the fascinating "Grotta Grattara" rock formation at the beginning, endless mountain panoramas, and everything from easy mountain paths to summit scrambles. Anyone wanting to attempt this hike should be in good shape, surefooted, and not afraid of heights. Then it's truly fun.
A varied hike. Sturdy hiking boots are recommended, as there is no path in the upper section and you have to find your way among stones, rocks, grass, and bushes.
The tour is absolutely stunning in terms of views and beautiful flora and fauna, but there is no path for large sections of the route. It's significantly more strenuous and a real shame because you have to trample on the beautiful flowers, and the path is largely nonexistent. Wild boars, snakes, and wild goats weren't particularly pleased by our presence either. Unfortunately, I can't recommend the tour because it's simply a shame and very strenuous to trample through the beautiful flower meadows without a path.
Very beautiful hike but there is absolutely no path up och down the peak. Its quite strugglesome klimbing and a lot of thorn bushes on the way down. Otherweise its spectacular.
Beautiful views of Mount Etna, all the way to Palermo, and the entire coast! This hike is probably not done by many, which is why the path was no longer visible during the ascent and descent, and the tall undergrowth made it difficult to navigate.
Please note: The climb to Pizzo Dipilo is pathless at first over stony alpine meadows and further up over boulders; some parts have to be scrambled. However, climbing equipment is not required. The view from the summit makes all the effort worth it :-) Alternatively, the section can also be hiked down at the foot of Pizzo Dipilo on an easy path (then the hike has a few hundred meters less elevation ;-)
Shortly before the summit, the trail ends and you have to fight your way through the pile of rocks (also on the descent)
