Today we took the Stemwede Mill Route on our bikes! It's part of the Westphalian Mill Route, which might also be included as a cycling tour! Oppenweher Mill was the first, then came the German Wind Power Museum, which also has mills. Kolthof Mill was next, and then the windmill in Destel! We often drove past here on the 🚘 when we were on the Dümmer! This time on the bikes was also 🤩
Parking is available in Rahden, e.g., at the sports and school center. Except for the first 8 km, the tour was copied from the official route: https://www.teutoburgerwald.de/natur/in-der-natur/tour/muehlenroute-tagestour-6-rund-um-stemwede Whit Monday is Mill Day, and the local history society was active at the Levern and Oppenwehe mills. Lunch break with sausages in Levern. Coffee break with butter cake in Oppenwehe. Finally, we visited the Rahden Museum Farm, where the Rossmühle mill was also in operation. Except for the three mills, the route only followed small paths through meadows and fields.
Nice tour, unfortunately some signs were obscured or twisted.
