This route was planned by komoot.
We did this hike the last weekend of August. To avoid the crowds, we reversed the route, starting with the Cirque d'Arcelin, then climbing up some rocks that resembled organs. At the end of the climb, the Lac des Assiettes, completely dried up, offered a lunar landscape and a breathtaking view of the Grande Casse. At the Refuge du Col de la Vanoise, we enjoyed an excellent meal with delicious chicken with tarragon and a blueberry tart. Then we took the road back to the turquoise Lac Long and the emerald green Lac des Vaches, partially dried up. Walking on the rocks of the lake was a unique experience. I recommend this hike 100%, but preferably outside school term time to avoid the summer crowds.
