As a contrast, today we left the Mediterranean coast under slightly overcast skies and headed into the mountains, more precisely into the Malonie Mountains Nature Park, about 40 km from Palermo. After what felt like at least 300 bends, we parked our car in a parking lot at about 1,250 meters. Up here, chains are mandatory in winter! From here we then completed a circuit through the nature park that took us up to 1,600 m and more. The path is easy to walk throughout and does not require any special requirements. The peace and quiet that prevails here is a welcome change from the hectic hustle and bustle on the coast. I have never seen so many deer in the wild in my life. Great! And some of the green meadows with white boulders reminded me of the Karl May films and thought that Winnetou would be riding around the corner any minute... 😉. Nice circuit for a change.
